 Comparison of the Novels “Alchemist” & “Abdullah”

Introduction

It was a great opportunity recently to read some intriguing and believable novels. The books are titled "Abdullah" and "Alchemist". Famous and well-known Pakistani novelist Hashim Nadeem wrote one of these, and "Brazilian" author Paulo Coelho wrote the other respectively.

The "Abdullah" novel's first edition and second edition were both released in 2016. While "Alan R. Clarke" has translated "The Alchemist," which has also been made available in nearly 70 different languages. It was released in 1998 and has 167 pages.

 

A Succinct Summary of the Abdullah



The protagonist of the Abdullah novel is a boy named "Sahir" from a wealthy family who places a high value on success. After a car race, he arrived at a tomb where he first saw "Zehra," a girl he soon fell in love with. To see and meet her, "Sahir" travels to the tomb every Thursday. From this point on, his life gradually begins to change for the better as he becomes drawn to the tomb, meets the novel's very sensible character Abdullah, then the adorably famous "Sultan baba," and finally "Molavi Khizar." To win her love, "Sahir" begins to live in the tomb under the alias "Abdullah." 
At first, his thoughts were only on "Zehra," but as he spent more time in the tomb and around pious people, he decided to engage in religious activities since his entire family did not know religion before his time in the tomb. After that, he travelled the world with Sultan Baba and encountered numerous miracles that strengthened his devotion to and belief in "Allah Almighty." Finally, he became able to understand omens and natural language till then the great character of the novel “Sultan baba” left “Abdullah” alone and went on an eternal journey.

 

Short Summary of the Alchemist

The Alchemist novel starts with a boy named “Santiago” who lives in a city in Spain (Andalusia). He was frequently dreaming that there is a treasure in the pyramids in Egypt. He took it seriously by emphasizing the one woman and an old man, so he went towards the pyramids. While going towards a destiny he faced crises continuously but at the same time, he became able to understand the language of nature i.e. omens and allusions or dreams and especially incidents happening to him. During his journey, he fell in love with a girl named “Fatima”, the desert girl. She supported him in get his dream and accepting the problems for treasure. 
Thus, he tried to travel again pyramids and meets the “Alchemist” who helps him further to understand signs rendered by nature and fate. Finally, he reached to pyramids in Egypt and he faced some robbers who loot the piece of gold from him that was given by the “Alchemist”. During their investigation for his presence there, he tells them about his dream and treasure their leader told him that he usually dreamed that there is treasure under the sycamore tree outside the old church. It was the time when he got the actual location of the treasure so he went back and got the treasure.

 

Comparison

“Hashim Nadeem” is a drama writer, poet and fiction writer. Although his writing style is a little bit inventive but also comprise lots of visual thoughts and is easy to understand; because of his unique method to describe scenario reader can reach noble goals of aesthetic enjoyment. He also employed incredibly deep-meaning lines in his story to show emphasis the opportunity and man relationship. He constantly prefers everything that happens "in our lives to have some particular relationship with our fate. According to the novel, “Allah” has special ways to test “His” creatures through some situations but the primary and vital thing which we need to keep in mind is the persistent and strong belief in “Him”. The sincere and pure love for “Allah” never drives any guy towards hell rather it raises a person from darkness to the light. So, for triumph in the route of piousness, everyone should serve his or her duties for mankind.

While “Paulo Coelho” has highly refined thoughts in his work that he encourages not giving up on your aspirations, and this message seems to come through in this story in particular. The quotation he used in this work is, “When you want something the universe will conspire to help you to achieve it”. His work emphasizes the knowledge of natural language via omens and dreams and notable occurrences. Another lesson taught by this story is that we have some will to prove our aspirations and hardships as the shepherd did in the novel. Everything that happens in our life has some link with our bright future but the crucial is to remain with happenings and bear the pain achieved by following the road.

Alchemist and Abdullah both have certain similarities and distinctions, to sum up, the comparison. 

 

Similarities Between Novels

Both books centre on a person's steadfast and strong belief in the path they have chosen. Crises that develop during travelling accommodate some outcomes that would lead the traveller to the truth's light. These books discuss the value of spirituality, hope, and faith for a self-driven person. Both books are filled with thrilling fiction and romance. These books are inspirational and include valuable lessons. According to novels, the protagonist who strongly believes in the truth ultimately triumphs. Both books depict how nature can guide a person toward reality and reveal the true meaning of each scene.

 

Difference Between Novels

Although there is no explicit justification for religion in Abdullah novel, we can see that there is a strict emphasis on faith to find true love. The  Alchemist novel contains some omens and natural language. The protagonist of Abdullah's novel claims that the protagonist of the Alchemist novel was attempting to bring light to natural miracles. The Alchemist novel focuses on the protagonist's struggle for treasure and a love of the world. The heroine of the Alchemist novel permitted the protagonist to journey across the globe in search of the world's treasure, but she disapproved of this; in contrast, the heroine of the Abdullah novel permitted the protagonist to travel out of genuine love for the truth and "Allah."

 

Dilemma

The author made a concerted effort to portray "Sahir" or "Abdullah's" struggles with his heart and mind in both publications. As "Abdullah" gained knowledge, he had countless inquiries about every natural condition he had. He attempted to get something done a few times by asking inquiries, but nature was above his queries and commonplace concepts. Sultan Baba allowed him to handle a variety of issues during his miraculous and omen-filled voyage through throughs own faith and destiny. He encountered several obstacles along the route to the truth, such as "Yaqoot," "wild dogs," "sickness," mental incapacity, etc.

While "Santiago" in the Alchemist novel was a shepherd, like "Abdullah," he also had certain difficulties when dealing with various signs provided by nature. He initially dismissed his dream as unimportant and did so a few times, but after he decided to act, he won the first battle by obtaining two stones. Following these frequent signs, he became accustomed to understanding nature's language. He was then more equipped to handle difficulties at Tangier, the Sarah Desert, and lastly, robbers at the pyramids, from which he learned the valid location of the treasure.
